Abstract

The use of dental veneers has increased in recent years due to advancements in materials and techniques, which have made it a frequent option for enhancing dental esthetics and improving smiles. However, the rise in the number of veneer procedures has also resulted in an increase in overtreatment and ethical/legal concerns. While dental veneers can be an effective solution for improving the appearance of teeth, it is important for dental professionals to be aware that they are not as good as the dental tissue that may need to be removed during preparation. Dentists must use their technical and ethical expertise to determine whether veneers are appropriate for a patient, based on their individual needs and expectations. Patient desires and trends should not be the sole determining factors. If a dental professional decides to proceed with a veneer treatment, they are responsible for ensuring that it is conducted using minimally invasive dentistry techniques and in accordance with technical and ethical principles. The long-term wellbeing of the patient should be the top priority throughout the process.
