The final sample of secondary data was acquired from 168 unknown individual, originated in the Sistema de Informatização e Gerenciamento dos Atos de Polícia Judiciária-PCNet. The use of the dental criterion (Yes/No) was categorized, including: Present Teeth, Tooth Wear, Presence of Remaining Edges, Mineralization of Dental Roots and Bone Structure of the Jaws, such as "Yes" and Morphological Elements of Body and Face, Tissues Attached as "No". The components of the sample were divided into Groups 1, 2 and 3, according to the age stratum. As a result, it was seen that most of the unknown were male (91.7%). The prevalence of use of the dental criterion was 100%. It is concluded by reinforcing that the use of dental criteria is relevant in the estimation of age, consisting of a forensic strategy, with scientific rigor that guarantees its effectiveness.
