Abstract

Dentistry is a profession that acts directly on health, which includes promotion, prevention and recovery related to the dentist's activities. The knowledge this professional acquires during undergraduation, as well as in graduation courses, brings the ability to perform all acts related to Dentistry. The aim of this article is to discuss the publication of CFM Resolution 2373/2023 on medical exclusive activities in craniomaxillofacial areas that are common to other professions in the dental field and the implications are for dentist's activities. Specific laws and rules from its respective professional council, which guarantee that professionals registered within their competence, can fulfill their activities, respecting the limits and professional ethics, support Dentistry. The perception left by the CFM Resolution 2373/2023 is to establish doubts on different work fields in a way that can hinder practical collaboration among different health professionals, which can hinder the coordination of patient care. However, Dentistry has its technical and scientific foundations, as well as specific regulations and this resolution (and no other issued by a professional council other than the Dental Council) does not interfere with the professional performance of dentists.
